Eliminating Cold Homes & Sky-High Heating Bills

At Global Energy Insulation, we understand the frustration of living in a cold, draughty property. Solid walls, poor roof insulation, and weathered, failing exterior walls contribute to immense heat loss, rising utility bills, and persistent problems like condensation and black mould.

As premier industry-leading insulation and PAS 2035 retrofit specialists, we deliver whole-house thermal upgrades tailored to your property type. From Victorian terraces and non-traditional concrete builds to modern commercial offices and HMOs, we handle the entire project from initial design and compliance right through to the final decorative render.

Plus, with our close partnership with our sister company, Global Plastering, we provide a seamless, end-to-end service. Whether we are installing internal wall insulation (IWI) or repairing complex ceilings, our sister team steps in to execute flawless traditional plastering and skimming. No need to manage multiple subcontractors—we coordinate everything under one roof.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for External Wall Insulation (EWI)?

Generally, EWI is considered Permitted Development. However, because it alters the external appearance of your home, you will need planning permission if your property is a listed building, in a conservation area, or subject to local restrictive covenants. Our team handles the local authority checks and coordinates compliance.

What is the difference between EWI and IWI?

External Wall Insulation wraps the exterior of your building in high-density insulation boards and a weatherproof render finish, which does not impact your internal floor area. Internal Wall Insulation involves fitting insulation boards directly to the inner face of the walls inside your rooms, which is then boarded and plastered. IWI is excellent when external alterations are prohibited.

How long does a typical retrofit installation take?

A standard domestic External Wall Insulation and rendering project typically takes 2 to 3 weeks, depending on weather and the size of your property. Internal wall upgrades depend on the number of rooms, but we always work efficiently to minimise disruption, working hand-in-hand with Global Plastering to deliver rapid finishes.

How does proper insulation stop damp and black mould?

Most domestic damp and black mould is caused by warm, moist air inside the house meeting freezing cold, uninsulated external walls. This temperature drop causes condensation. By insulating the walls (either internally or externally), we raise the surface temperature of the wall above the dew point, permanently removing the environment that supports black mould growth.
